Does Tinted Glass Reduce Heat?
Tinted glass has been in use in automobiles since quite a few years. However, recently it has witnessed growth in its use in building design. Needless to say, tinted glass has the potential of becoming one of first choices of glass variant in building design. This is because tinted glass offers a wide range of benefits such as filtering harmful ultra violet rays, providing greater privacy to the interiors and enhancing the aesthetics of the building. However, there is one aspect in which tinted glass falls short. This aspect is nothing but the domain of heat reduction. Although tinted glass can effectively filter the entry of light, it fails to do the same with heat. So, if a designer expects that the use of tinted glass in a building with protect the interiors from both unwanted glare and heat, then they are mistaken. This is one area which can be considered a limitation of tinted glass. But, this does not mean that tinted glass would not find any use in building design. In fact, in certain types of building, the functions of tinted glass are desirable.
The best way to control heat which passes through windows is to use solar control glass. Nowadays, there are a number of brands which have been selling tinted glass have also started selling solar control glass. The best design of a building would use a combination of tinted glass and solar control glass in its windows. In that case, it is always recommended to procure both tinted glass and solar control glass from the same brand. This is because glass of both the variants belonging to the same brand would complement each other perfectly.
